Patients know the moment they walk into Southern Arizona Endodontics that we are not like any other dental office they have ever encountered. There is a difference which inexplicably puts them at ease and confirms they have been sent to the right place to have their endodontic needs addressed. The powerful surprise of this positive experience is in direct contrast with what most people have heard about getting endodontic treatment. But none of it is a surprise to us. In fact, we work very hard, and with focused intent, to make every patient’s experience very rewarding. For a dental practice to be able to provide above-and-beyond patient care, something very intentional is occurring.
Achieving and Maintaining Excellence is Intentional
For this level of exemplary patient care to be standard, the foundation of the practice has to be rock solid. For that solid foundation to stay strong, it needs to be continually assessed and strengthened over time. Even the best business models weaken if they are not consistently and purposefully refocused, examined, and improved. A clear vision, shared by every single person on our team, is vital. It is remarkable what can be achieved when motivated, happy, talented people share a common vision.
Southern Arizona Endodontics Roundtable Event
To this end, Southern Arizona Endodontics hosts Roundtable events every three months for our team. Our Roundtable events are inspirational, community-building and fun. Our entire team comes away renewed, focused and motivated. These events strengthen and support each individual as well as our practice as a whole.
An Exciting New Vision Reflects Our Solid History
The Roundtable we hosted for our practice early this summer was one of our most profound events. Orchestrated by our group administrator, Michael Austin, our time together was amazingly motivating and affirming. We took a look at our refreshed vision statement and brand promise. Building on the strength and clarity of our past, rejuvenated with the ideas and personalities of our current team of doctors, our vision and brand statements have evolved into unwavering and powerful declarations.
Southern Arizona Endodontics strives to be the leading endodontic practice in the United States and serves as a resource for the dental community. Our foundation is built on a positive culture, continuing education, and convergent effort. With passion, selfless commitment, exceptional service, and state of the art technology, our team attends to all in a safe environment that exceeds expectations. We accommodate and partner for success with all dental professionals to provide outstanding quality care in a timely fashion. Our patients return to their referring dentist educated and transformed by their experience. We achieve personal and professional fulfillment by defining the standards of unprecedented community service.
SAE promises our referring community who value saving teeth; and their patients who desire a total customer experience, that they can consistently expect the highest levels of care and service in our industry. As a unified team, we are big enough to accommodate while still doing all the little things that make a difference in the lives of those we serve. … Always through kindness, courtesy, and respect!
Let’s listen in to what Michael had to say about the Roundtable event and the creation of a new and updated vision of where we’re headed as a practice.
“First of all, the vision statement inspires us to give our very best. It shapes our understanding of why we work where we do, and it outlines where we want to be. It communicates the purpose and the values of our business. I was heavily involved in the process of revising our vision statement, and what I found was very inspiring. We are truly celebrating our past with our new vision statement. There isn’t anything missing foundationally from our new vision that was not in our prior vision statement. In fact, all the values that Dr. Hughes esteemed in the beginning of the practice, such as taking care of people, always doing the right thing, giving back to the community, continuous and never ending improvement, and providing exceptional care and service for each patient is still present. Rather than start from scratch or even take away, our doctors have simply added to this foundation. In essence, taking something that was already exceptional and elevating it even further.”
Michael talks about our brand promise statement.
“The brand promise statement displays the expectation that we create for our practice and the dental community. It’s what our brand promises to do every day, for each patient. As you can see from the statement, it’s up to each of us, on a daily basis, to uphold these high standards of quality care and service. Every time a patient comes to our office, we, in essence, promise to provide them a total care experience.”
“We’re creating a culture of self-accountability, self-motivation, self-awareness. The leadership will have growth conferences with each team member. These conferences will provide an opportunity for team members to stretch themselves outside their comfort zones, and seek out new opportunities for growth. It will also create an environment of openness and transparency as each growth target is mutually agreed upon during the conference. That’s an exciting and powerful thing.”
“At SAE we have much to be proud of. We have a rich heritage and a growing reputation in Tucson. Just think for a moment, over the years, how many patients we’ve gotten out of pain, or how many patients’ natural teeth we’ve been able to save. Think about the tremendous effect we’ve had on our community. Serving those less fortunate through Hope Fest, Needy Family, charity of the month, and many other charity outreach efforts over the years.”
Verbal Bouquets Provide Sweet Smell of Success
Near the conclusion of the Roundtable, one of our own, Erin Aguilar, organized a spectacular activity for everyone. She called it giving verbal bouquets. Listen as she explains the activity.
“The Flower Power Activity was put together to show our team members gratitude, to tell them not only how they inspire us and also to praise them for a job well done. This activity was called giving a verbal bouquet.
We sat in tables of eight and in the center of each table were cut-out paper flower centers. Everyone took a flower center and wrote their own name on it. Then, thinking of how each person at their table supports our new vision statement with their knowledge, skill, ability and attitude they were to fill out a flower petal for each person.
Once everyone had filled out their flower petals they shared with each person what they had written. They shared how that person mirrors the words or phrases in our new vision statement. They also shared how each person inspires them, and showed gratitude towards each team member. An example was “Kathy goes above and beyond by helping stock operatories. This supports our new vision statement in that she is reinforcing our positive culture. I am inspired by her because she selflessly helps others. Thank you, Kathy, for going above and beyond for our team!”
In the end, everyone had a flower with petals of affirmation given to them by their teammates. The power of this activity was immeasurable! It was a perfect activity to wrap up such a positive, motivating event.
Celebrating Our Past and Embracing Our Future
We have set the bar extraordinarily high. What is so exciting is that our entire team has enthusiastically united to see our vision through. Our most recent Roundtable event allowed us to celebrate our foundation while embracing our future.
“Together we have all accomplished a great deal and we boldly and confidently look forward to the future and whatever it brings! Why are we able to do this? Because we have each other! There is a true greatness in this full team that is palpable! You can feel it, you can see it manifest itself daily! By working together as a unified group there isn’t anything we can’t accomplish. Our future together is most bright, indeed!”
